In today's blog we will look at "shadowing".
Over approximately the past 10 years in Japan, shadowing has become an interesting tool for language training companies to sell their training programs. Listen and repeat got boring, so shadowing was invented. It's basically the same thing, but with shadowing you have rhythm to consider, plus vocabulary and content.
Of course, while you may not understand everything they are saying, the idea is that you will be mimicking correct English pronunciation. This is nonsense. In fact the only thing it does is make the trainer's job easier. It's a lazy part of training. Plus all the students who do it look and sound like idiots.
If you want to practice "shadowing", please do it at home. Class room time is so precious that you definitely do not want to waste your time or money on nonsense.
The only way you will REALLY improve your pronunciation is by moving to another country where English is used.
