Today our phrase is "have nothing in common".
This means to have very different ideas or interests.
Example 1
I have nothing in common with my co-workers. They are all in their mid-twenties and I am fifty something. They are all staunch Democrats and I am a Republican. So, it's hard to have a conversation with them.
Example 2
It's important to find someone who you can get along with, if you want to get married. If you have nothing in common, it will be tough to make it work.
