The Last Straw

Another beautiful day in Tokyo.

Our idiom for today is the last straw.

This means that over a period of events or time, a person has been irritated by something and has finally lost patience and explodes.

Example 1

I have been very good about holding my anger in for all these months, but today, my colleague pushed me too far and I went crazy! She told the boss that she did the work, but in fact, I did. Well, that was the last straw.

Example 2

I told you guys to stop eating the cookies, but you didn't listen. That is the last straw. There will no more cookies in this house for one month. You will eat nothing sweet for one month.
